ICS418 training empowers leaders to develop and sustain ICS/OT security programs, align industrial cyber risks with business goals, and foster a culture of safety, reliability, and security.
This course is a must for managers in the ICS space. I'm sure many people are trying to build an OT security program based on IT standards and guidelines. This course did a great job of pointing out those differences.
The ICS418: ICS Security Essentials for Leaders course is designed to equip leaders responsible for critical infrastructure and operational technology (OT) environments with the tools and strategies needed to manage industrial cyber risks effectively. This two-day course addresses the unique challenges of securing ICS/OT systems, prioritizing safety, reliability, and business objectives while adapting to evolving threats and technologies. Participants will gain the skills to lead teams, processes, and technologies in developing and sustaining robust ICS security programs.
Dean Parsons, CEO of ICS Defense Force, has established comprehensive ICS security programs and leading industrial-grade incident responses across sectors like telecommunications and energy. He wrote the pivotal SANS ICS Cybersecurity Field Manuals.

On the first day, students will learn the differences between traditional information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems, as well as the associated threats, vulnerabilities, and potential impacts from ICS-specific cyber-attacks.
The second section of this course builds on the concepts around building an ICS security program and explores the workforce needs to manage the day-to-day tasks, planning, and reporting required to minimize cyber risk.
Builds and maintains business relationships with engineering staff and C-suite stakeholders by communicating and managing cyber-to- physical risks while reducing security risk to engineering operations and simultaneously prioritising safety.

Explore learning pathThere are a ton of takeaways I can bring back to my team to start implementing immediately, as well as longer term strategic talking points to discuss with my leadership.
The lessons taught in this class helps me to prepare myself to approach upper management about getting cyber defenses on the OT networks.
I have been on a 3 year journey of building an ICS Security team/program and the course material truly captures most if not all the concepts and concerns that need to be incorporated.
